Lauren Phelps
Lauren is a mediator, lawyer, leader, educator and legal mentor.
As a Nationally Accredited Mediator, a Professional Member of the Resolution Institute, and a legal professional with over 16 years working within the Criminal Justice System, Lauren has significant experience supporting her clients throughout what is often a challenging time of their life.
While practicing as a lawyer and Director within one of Queensland’s leading law firms, Lauren recognised the benefits and impacts that restorative justice and dispute resolution provide as an alternative approach to the traditional courtroom.
Lauren is an empathetic listener who ensures that all parties to a mediation know that they are being heard and their feelings acknowledged. To Lauren, the parties to a mediation always come first, and she strives to provide a safe and comfortable environment for everyone involved, with an outcome-focussed mindset.
In addition to her mediation work, Lauren works within the Queensland legal industry bringing her experience to law firms and legal professionals through a range of consulting and education services.
Lauren is a well-known criminal defence lawyer, having held Specialist Accreditation in Criminal Law and 15 years of experience in private practice. Lauren was a Director at one of Queensland’s leading criminal law firms and has been actively involved in driving change and improvement within the legal industry through her involvement in various committees, mentorship programs, and as an Adjunct Lecturer.
Lauren regularly presents to law firms, Government departments and professionals, and at conferences and seminars on a range of topics including culture, leadership, wellbeing, resilience, and mental health.
